Children

Children benefit from coming to church with their parents, worshipping and learning in age-appropriate ways, as part of our larger church family. During the week, for children 3–5, we offer one of Akron’s oldest pre-schools.

We welcome children to all of our church services, though the service at 10:00 a.m. in the Church is most suitable.

Sunday Mornings: Visiting for the first time?

Please contact Beth Guenther, Director of Family Ministries, if you have questions or would like to check out the building and classrooms before visiting.

Infants and Toddlers

Child care for infants and toddlers is provided by trained professionals on Sundays on the third level, in our Education Wing, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Programs

The youngest members of our Church family follow the lectionary based Seasons of The Spirit curriculum, connecting with the same readings the parents hear in worship.

Children in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade follow the Godly Play model, which focuses on the parables and biblical stories rich with meaning.

Student in Grades 4–6 follow the ‘Dig In’ program, digging into the Bible through stories, crafts, and experiments, while 7th and 8th graders explore faith through the Confirmation Class.

During The Week: A Fantastic Preschool!

Our Preschool has been in existence since 1954, for ages 3–5. It also provides Time for Two, a program for children between the ages of 18–36 months.
