Worship Services

Sunday at 8 a.m.

Our early morning service is for those who love one of the great traditions of the Church, and the quiet dignity of the Firestone Memorial Chapel.  The service follows the Book of Common Prayer (Rite I), and includes a homily, the doxology and the prayer of humble access.

Sunday at 9:15 a.m.

Our 9:15 service is a bright service filled with families, young children, and music.  The printed service bulletin makes following the service easy for the newcomer. We begin the service with a procession with a robed choir, readers, servers, a verger and priests who formally serve during our worship. Often the children are asked to come forward for a children’s message.  During the summer, the service moves outside to the Courtyard outside the Chapel.

Sunday at 11 a.m.

Our 11 a.m. service brings to life the deep riches of 2,000 years of Christian tradition. Music is a means of transcendence and preaching is paramount, guiding and enhancing our understanding of God and the gospel. Often a sermon series at this service will focus on a particular book of the Bible, contemporary issues, or features of Jesus’ person and ministry, allowing us a greater look at the coherence of the Christian faith.  We alternate between Holy Communion, offered on the first and third Sundays of the month, and Morning Prayer, which celebrates the great tradition of English Choral music.  Both services begin with the procession of a full choir and those who formally serve during our worship. And after the service we enjoy coffee hour together in the parish hall.

Special Intercessory Prayers at The Altar Sunday at 11 a.m.

During our latest service on Sundays, a priest or deacon will be stationed on the east, lectern side of the altar rail, to offer special intercessory prayers right after you receive communion. If you would like extra prayers for healing, for personal peace, for someone else, or for any other reason, please move to the right side of the rail after receiving communion and kneel where the clergy person is positioned. Prayers of thanksgiving are welcome, too, for a birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion. The minister will ask what prayers are requested, offer to make a sign of the cross on your forehead with anointing oil, and pray discreetly and confidentially with you.

Wednesday at 7 a.m  and 5:30 p.m.

We begin and end Wednesdays here with modest services, lasting about 30 minutes, which follow the Book of Common Prayer (Rite II). In the morning, a Bible Study follows Morning Prayer and ends at 8 a.m. with donuts and juice enjoyed by participants. In the Chapel in the evening at 5:30 is a communion service.

Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday evening we gather in the quiet dignity of the Firestone Memorial Chapel or outside if the summer weather permitting. We celebrate communion, pray for the Church and the world, and listen to Scripture and a sermon.
