Good Neighbors Food Center

Good Neighbors Inc. has served the needy of Summit County for over 59 years. The Good Neighbors Food Center provides a three day emergency supply of groceries to the needy, who are eligible to be served once a month with a referral from Info Line, social agencies, churches, schools, or others. Good Neighbors served 18,158 clients in 2007 (its 50th Anniversary year), 46% of whom were children. Fifty volunteers donated a total of 7,800 hours to food center operations. The food center gets as much food as possible from the Food Bank and supplements that with purchases from wholesale suppliers, as well as day-old bread from grocers, and donations from food drives at schools and others. It is the largest food pantry in Summit County and relies on many organizations for support. Good Neighbors also supplies clothing to those in need.  Churches have been the greatest source of volunteers and a vital part of its funding.

Members of St. Paul’s have served as volunteers and board members for Good Neighbors in the past. Volunteers may help at Good Neighbors by stocking food, picking up school food drive contributions, helping with food distribution, and so on.  For more information, including current information on specific needs for volunteers and contributions, click here!
